Christmas in two weeks…

I have had stalls at two christmas fairs in the last few weeks. The first was Handmade at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds which was a great success and always promises a pleasant combo of illustration, jewellery, plush, knit and cake for sale.

The second fair was held today at Holbeck Underground Ballroom (The HUB) as featured in The Guardian as pick of the theatre listings!

I have to say this event blew away my expectations completely. The venue was fantastic, as was the decor – the  theatre group that run the HUB have collected a brilliant array of antiques and theatrical props which they used to transform one of the rooms into a cosy christmas lounge, complete with piano. This proved very useful to our Leeds regiment of the WI (who go by the name of ‘Buns and Roses’) who treated guests to a generous round of rautious carols, spurred on by Santa who was being transmitted live via web cam into the lounge area

There was also a hog roast, spiced mulled wine, vegan curry, card tricks from Magic Al, a very informative Knowledge Buffet, story telling and a huge range of craft and food on offer, from which I bought quite a few excellent Christmas presents.

Hopefully the group should be hosting a similar event during Easter 2011
